Waterford Schoolboys Football League

Villa Football Club

History:

Villa F.C celebrated it’s fiftieth anniversary in 2003 and as the club reflects back on its first fifty years, it can be justifiably proud of what it has achieved so far and can look to the future with confidence.

Villa is a hugely progressive club boasting 11 schoolboy teams, three U11s, two U12 teams, one U13, two U14 and U15 teams and two U16. For the past few years the schoolboys have been doing very well taking many A titles.
In addition to the schoolboy teams the club caters for U17’s, Youth, 1a, 2a, and 4a.

The 1A team is currently in the hunt for promotion although it’s still early days in this league.
The girl’s team played in the inaugural girls league last season and are looking forward to competing once again this summer.

Highest Standards:

A hard working committee of nine work extremely hard to maintain the highest of standards at the club and are presently overseeing the present development at Connors Park, which will see Villa boast some of the finest facilities in the region.

The present chairman is Liam Connors, Rebecca Robinson looks after the administration and PR duties while the club’s treasurer is Neil Kelly. Frank O’Byrne is synonymous with Villa F.C having been the driving force behind the club for many years and is currently the Club President. At Villa there is a huge emphasis placed on coaching as Neil Kelly explained recently.

“We have 25 coaches involved with all the different teams. Our policy is to have all our coaches on the FAI coaching system."

“At present we have four level two coaches including myself, Owen Tubritt, and Nicky Denn. We have one Level 3 coach in Ray Moran meaning our coaching standards are very high."
