Waterford Schoolboys Football League

Jim Goodwin

Name:
Jim Goodwin
Current Club:
Stockport County
Previous Club in Scotland:
Glasgow Celtic
Previous Club in Waterford:
Tramore AFC
Factfile:

Jim along with John O’Shea formed the central defensive partnership, which saw Ireland win the European Under 16 Championship in 1998. A regular in Don Givens' under 21 squads, Jim is still learning his trade in club football.

After a number of seasons in Celtic's youth teams (including one first team appearance), the Tramore-born defender was released by the club in the summer of 2002 though he quickly found a new club, joining Stockport County.

Jim has been a regular in the Stockport County defense ever since. Jim also has one Irish senior cap to his name, which he won in a friendly match against Finland.
